Officials just confirmed that 22-year-old Jolissa Fuentes’s body was found in the northern part of Pine Flat Lake. Chief Rudy Alcaraz says she was in a solo-car accident and the car went over a 250 feet cliff that was not visible in plain sight.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and Selma Police Department confirmed Tuesday the body of Jolissa Fuentes has been found.
Authorities say it appears her car went off Trimmer Springs Road near Maxon Road, north of Pine Flat Lake. They believe she died as the result of a car accident.
Selma Police Chief Rudy Alcarez personally found Jolissa during a search of the area, and her body was recovered Monday night.
They said they found Fuentes’ crashed car north of Pine Flat over the edge of a cliff down to the lake, 60 miles east from Fresno.
Law enforcement officials said they had to send a team 500 feet down the cliff to recover the body, utilizing drones to identify the vehicle.
Her father, Joey Fuentes spoke through tears at the news conference Tuesday, calling Chief Alcarez his hero.
There have been extensive searches for the 22-year-old since she was last seen driving a silver Hyundai sedan on August 7th.
She went to the AM-PM convenience store in Selma during the early morning and her phone’s last signal was near Avocado and Pine Flat lakes.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause and circumstances of the crash.
