Nebraska – 20-Year-Old Nebraska Woman Shot And Killed At Party, 7 Others Injured
Police in Nebraska have identified a woman killed in a shooting at an Omaha party that injured seven others.
The shooting happened around 4 a.m. Sunday during a confrontation at the party, police said. Officers who responded to reports of gunfire in the area found 20-year-old Karly Wood and another person with gunshot wounds, police said Monday in a news release. Both were rushed to an Omaha hospital, where Wood died.
Police have said six other people injured in the shooting were taken to hospitals in private vehicles. All of those injured ranged in age from 25 to 34.
Police have not announced any arrests in the shooting.
In a statement, Mayor Jean Stothert offers her sympathy to the family of the person killed.
She also says she has “confidence in the Omaha Police Department to thoroughly investigate the shooting and provide the resources needed to ensure public safety.’
Rodgers says this tragedy provides an opportunity to make a change going forward.
“You have to have some optimistic view of it, to be able to help get ourselves through it,” said Rodgers.
Both Stothert and Omaha Police are asking anyone with information related to the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP.
