2 Unity Air Embraer EMB120s Involved In Separate Accidents At The Same Airstrip
A small airstrip in the eastern part of Tanzania saw a strange turn of events on November 28, as two Embraer EMB120 Brasilia aircraft operated by Unity Air were involved in two separate accidents about six hours apart.
The incidents occurred at Kikoboga Airport (ICAO: HTMK), an airstrip serving the Mikumi National Park, which is a popular tourist destination.
The first incident, as communicated by the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), occurred at around 15:40 local time. It involved a Unity Air EMB120, registration 5H-MJH, flying in from Zanzibar.
According to HavaSosyalMedya on X, while approaching Kikoboga, the flight crew reported a problem with the plane’s landing gear.
Upon landing, the right main landing failed, forcing the aircraft to skid off the runway and come to a stop in a field nearby.
