Strong to severe storms continued to move across Alabama on Thursday evening, and there are several ongoing tornado warnings.
All modes of severe weather are on the table, but the NWS is concerned about two things in particular: Damaging winds and tornadoes.
Storms are racing across the state this afternoon, with some clocked at 70 mph, according to the weather service. Be prepared to act quickly if a warning is issued for your area.
Severe weather will be possible across all of Alabama today, but areas in orange will have a slightly higher risk. Damaging winds, tornadoes and heavy rain will all be possible starting later this afternoon.
The areas in orange have a Level 3, or enhanced risk for severe weather.
The areas in yellow have a Level 2, or slight risk, and areas in dark green have a Level 1, or marginal, risk. This latest update was released on Thursday afternoon.
