On Tuesday, June 14, at about 9:30 a.m., Lowell Police received a report that a boy was missing from a residence on Freda Lane in the Pawtucketville neighborhood.
The boy was dropped off at his babysitter’s house by his parents at about 7 a.m. Lowell Police have spoken with a neighbor who saw the boy in the babysitter’s yard at about 9:15 a.m.
That remains the last known sighting of the boy.
Officers who responded to the babysitter’s 911 call began an immediate search of the home and surrounding area, quickly expanding the search when the boy was not found.
About 180 police and firefighters are taking part in a coordinated, multi-agency search of the area, which includes portions of the Lowell Dracut Tyngsborough State Forest and swampland.
The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Regional Response Team, K-9 Unit, and Incident Management Assistance Team.
The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, Dive Team, Mounted Unit and Special Emergency Response Team (SERT); the Lowell Fire Department, Lowell Department of Planning and Development, Middlesex Sheriff’s Department, Dracut Police Department.
Tyngsborough Police Department and Fire Department, Andover Fire Department, UMass Lowell Police Department, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the National Park Service, Environmental Police
Trinity EMS, Lowell General Hospital Paramedics, the Executive Officer of Public Safety and Security, the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Lowell City Manager’s Office all are providing assistance at the scene.
About 50 cadets from the Lowell Police Academy also have responded to assist.
Lowell Police have used the reverse 911 system to notify area residents, and are asking the public to contact police immediately if they believe they have seen the boy or have information on his whereabouts.
Lowell Police are additionally asking residents of the area to search their properties when they return from work.
“I would like to encourage all residents of the area to assist us by checking around their properties and in areas that others might not think to look.
We have an extensive, ongoing search underway and we appreciate the support of community members,” said Acting Superintendent Golner.
“I also want to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance.
We are hopeful that we will find this young man soon.”
The boy, named Harry, was last seen wearing a long-sleeve maroon shirt, and gray pants with a white stripe.
