Massachusetts authorities are investigating the death of an 18-year-old woman whose body was found behind an Everett home Tuesday.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said a resident of a Springvale Avenue home called 911 at about 2 p.m. to report that she had found a dead female behind her home.
Everett police officers found the young woman outside, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators observed no obvious injuries on the young woman’s body, but due to the circumstances around the location of the body, authorities said her death is being investigated as suspicious at this time.
Amber Gordon lives a few houses away from where the woman’s body was discovered.
Gordon said the victim was supposed to visit her brother-in-law on Monday, however she did not arrive for the meeting.
She said fears grew when someone found the woman’s purse and cellphone on Springvale Avenue.
“My brother-in-law, Brandon, called the sister because he knows her,” Gordon said.
He said police were notified Monday about the woman’s disappearance.
“I can only imagine how hard it is for her parents,” Gordon said. “I couldn’t image something like this happening to my kid.”
