Charging documents also reveal that Wilson apparently threatened to kill himself after the shooting and had recently legally traded a puppy for the gun that was used.
According to charging documents, on December 30, 2022, police arrived at the family’s home on Presbury Street to find a next-door neighbor performing CPR on King, who had been shot in the head.
That night, police commissioner Michael Harrison called it a homicide investigation.
“Our detectives will be working to find out what happened.Â
And we will make sure that we will bring justice and hold whoever’s responsible and accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” said Harrison.
While investigating inside the home, one officer said he heard “sobbing” coming from an upstairs bedroom, according to charging documents. When the officer entered the room, the officer found Wilson inside, with a shotgun pointed at his own forehead.
The documents say that the officer was able to convince Wilson to put the gun down and leave the bedroom.
Wilson was arrested at the scene and taken for a psychiatric evaluation because of the apparent suicide threat, according to charging documents.
