17 Christian missionaries kidnapped in Haiti by notorious criminal gang
400 Mazawo is demanding a $17 million ransom, or $1 million per person to free the kidnapped Christian missionaries.
Here’s what else is known:
▪️The group consists of 16 US citizens and one Canadian
▪️Four children and an 8-month-old infant are among those held hostage
▪️The group is from the Ohio-based Christian Aid Ministries
▪️The 400 Mawazo gang is responsible for 80% of kidnappings in Haiti alone.
▪️AP reports the gang’s leader, Wilson Joseph, is wanted by authorities for attempted murder, kidnapping and hijacking crimes.
The FBI is investigating the kidnapping alongside Haitian police and they are in contact with the hostage takers, WSJ reports.
