MARION—On Tuesday, officers from the Marion Special Response Team, Marion City Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a search warrant in the 700 block of Creston Ave. resulting in a major haul of drugs.
Upon arrival, officers found the home had been barricaded from the inside to prevent their entry.
Detectives gained entry and seized 70.3 grams of a suspected heroin/fentanyl compound that had been broken down into 159 individual doses. They seized 27.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine that was broken down into 63 bundles, as well as suspected ecstasy pills. $1295.00 in cash was seized.
Two men from Chicago, Brushaun Baker and LaToy Hodges, were arrested at the scene.
The men are charged with trafficking drugs of a fentanyl-related compound, trafficking in heroin, and trafficking in cocaine.
Formal charges are expected by Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan.
This investigation and bust was made based on tips called in to law enforcement by the citizens of Marion city and county.
