Antarctic Covid: Research Base Evacuation of Unvaccinated
The virus has broken out at the Argentine research base at the tip of the world. Just over half of the 43 scientists and military personnel stationed at the La Esperanza base in the Antarctic have been infected.
Nine of 24 confirmed infections are unvaccinated, and have been taken to Buenos Aires as a precaution – despite all those who have tested positive showing no symptoms.
The first outbreak on the icy continent was at Chile’s base in December 2020.
