US warns pilots of “surface-to-air fire” at Addis Ababa airport amid deadly Ethiopian war
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an advisory on Wednesday for pilots that they may be “directly or indirectly exposed to ground weapons and/or surface-to-air fire” as rebel forces approach the capital.
US citizens are being urged to “leave now” while UK Minister for Africa Vicky Ford has said Britain now advises against all travel to the country, although the FAA acknowledges Bole Airport, one of the continent’s busiest, is not currently under threat.
The war between government forces and fighters from the blockaded northern Tigray region has already claimed thousands of lives in the last year as forces attempt to oust
