100% of Puerto Rico is now without power from Hurricane Fiona as of around 1PM EDT 2022-09-18.
Tropical Storm Fiona strengthened on Sunday to a hurricane as it neared Puerto Rico. President Biden approved an emergency declaration for Puerto Rico, where more than 257,000 customers were without power as of Sunday morning.
Life-threatening flooding is imminent with Tropical Storm Fiona. About 20 inches of rain was reported in Guadeloupe, with roads washed away.
If you are near a swollen river, please seek higher ground. Prepare to be without power for days, and this will greatly impact the fresh water supply.
The worst weather right now is in St. Kitts & Nevis and Montserrat. Tonight, the worst weather heads to Puerto Rico, and the US & British Virgin Islands — where winds could gust over 90 mph.
Almost all indications have this staying well east of the United States East Coast – despite some other outlets trying to bait people to watch
