A Bixby man has posted his $1 million bond and was released from jail this afternoon.
A judge declined to reduce the bond for Christopher Veal 2 days ago and ordered Veal to stand trial on shooting with intent to kill, threatening a violent act, tampering with a security system and pointing a weapon.
The probable cause affidavit for Veal says on February 4, 2024 at 2:30 AM, Veal’s wife reported he woke her up and pointed a rifle at her and made the sounds of gunshots.
It says she got up a couple of hours later and he was still sitting on the bed holding a rifle and when she went to the restroom, she heard a gunshot, so called 911.
It says Bixby Police had responded to the home 6 times in 2023.
It says on February 4th, Veal refused negotiations and non-lethal options to come out of the house and the SWAT team arrived.
It says Veal fired 30 shots at the officers from the house, then opened the garage door and fired even more shots and officers returned fire, hitting Veal in the chest and arm.
It says officers found Veal had guns posted at defensive positions inside the house and had been using a camera system to watch the officers get into position from his cell phone.
The judge ordered these conditions for Veal’s release:
GPS monitor, house arrest other than to go to court, doctor and work, no contact with the victim and no guns.
