1 person was killed and three others injured in a shooting that occured near Durant and Telegraph avenues in Berkeley, a block south of the UC Berkeley campus, during in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Mid-morning on Saturday, the department sent out a statement that said:
“Early this morning, a fight broke out in the south campus area near Telegraph and Durant. About that time shots rang out as multiple people fled. As a result, four people sustained gunshot wounds. Officers were quickly on scene and begun lifesaving measures. The Berkeley Fire Department responded and transported the injured to an area hospital. Since, one person has succumbed to his injury.”
The Berkeley Scanner, an independent crime reporting site, reported that the victim who succumbed was pronounced dead at Highland Hospital in Oakland on Saturday morning.
