Two couples were along 8th and Franklin getting boba Saturday afternoon when two men in ski masks grabbed the purse belonging to two of the women.

One man who wants to be identified only as āMr. Chanā (pictured on the left) says āthey pulled their shirts up and showed they have guns under their pants. Immediately we all froze.ā
ā
Mr. Chan sprang into action and grabbed his girlfriendās handbag and was pistol-whipped in the process. He is icing and recovering.

A Good Samaritan also jumped in to grab the other womanās purse away from the suspects and was shot in the left armpit and right thigh. You can see in the dramatic cell phone video his injuries.

I spoke to him from his hospital bedā where he is recovering well and hoping to go home tomorrow night.
