WH unleashes crypto enforcement team to attempt recovery of criminal profits
The Biden administration have launched a new National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET) to chase up complex investigations into crypto crimes such as money tumbling services.
The new Department of Justice unit hopes it can “strengthen our capacity to dismantle the financial entities that enable criminal actors to flourish – and quite frankly to profit – from abusing cryptocurrency platforms”.
A string of ransomware attacks this year on key US infrastructure including the Colonial pipeline all demanded cryptocurrency payments.
