Two Mississippi men were found dead, hanging from trees: Delta State University

Police and the university have identified Demartravion “Trey” Reed, 21, of Grenada, as the Black man found deceased.
The Clarion Ledger normally does not reveal the names of those who committed suicide, but the university of 2,700 announced the name in a public setting.
Police in Vicksburg are still investigating the other man’s death.
Eyes are on Delta State University as a student’s body was found hanging from a tree on campus Monday, Sept. 15. A second Mississippi man was also found hanged on Monday.
Upon investigation, the Bolivar County Coroner’s Office has released a statement outlining additional information in the DSU case, which has been ruled a suicide.
Reed’s body was found early Monday. He was hanging from a tree near the pickleball courts and Court of Governors dormitories.
Delta State University Police Chief Michael L. Peeler said his department was notified at 7:05 a.m.
According to a statement from the office of Bolivar County Coroner Randolph Seals Jr., the Cleveland Police Department notified their office of the body at 7:32 a.m. Sept. 16. The coroner’s office was on the scene at 8:08 a.m.
Peeler said during a news conference on Monday that Reed committed suicide.
“But while there is no evidence of foul play, the body has been retrieved by the Bolivar County Coroner’s office,” he said. “I have requested the assistance of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Bolivar County Sherriff’s office and the Cleveland PD to assist us in this ongoing investigation.”
Is foul play suspected in Reed’s case?
At this time, police say no foul play is suspected.
