RMPD Identifies Homicide Suspect
Rocky Mount, N.C. – On May 5, 2022, at approximately 8:35 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Stone Rose Drive in reference to a shooting with injury.
When officers arrived, they located the victim, 20-year-old Javonta Crandell, in the passenger seat of a sedan-style vehicle.
Crandell sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Additionally, the sedan’s driver suffered a gunshot wound to the hand. The preliminary investigation has determined the shooting occurred at Sunset Avenue and May Drive.
Update – On May 5, 2022, the Homicide Unit developed 21-year-old Antonious Clemmons Jr. as the suspect in this homicide investigation.
Clemmons has active arrest warrants for 1st Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. Clemmons has yet to be located.
