Locals in Xi’an have taken to social media to plead for essentials, as the authorities forbid anyone from leaving their homes due to Covid restrictions. (BBC)
“We’ve been locked down for 13 days. Our basic life can’t be sustained. We queued for three to four hours [to buy vegetables]. But they won’t allow them to be sold anymore,” one man yelled in a video uploaded to social media.
More than 13 million people were given stay-at-home orders last week in Xi’an, while the authorities promised to deliver food — a claim that many allege simply isn’t happening.
