Moscow court sends BAILIFFS to recover $360k Facebook fine – Platform could be facing penalties into the MILLIONS
Here’s the latest on the skirmishes between Russian authorities and the Big Tech giant:
▪️Oct 7 – Moscow’s Court upholds administrative fines totaling $76k against Twitter
▪️ Oct 6 – 22 July decision to uphold Facebook fine of $80k for refusing to remove prohibited content
▪️Oct 5 – Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor intends to force Facebook to pay a turnover fine, could be over $50MN
▪️Sept 29 – Court agrees to FB request to delay fine payment till Oct 4 due to “technical problems”
In total, Roskomnadzor has sent 110 notifications since 2019 covering just short of $1MN, of which $600k are in force – but FB is yet to pay any.
