A North Carolina man is facing two counts of murder after a shooting in north Charlotte.

On November 6, 2025, 22-year-old Rodriguez Chambers, was arrested and is currently being held without bond in connection with the deaths of 23-year-old Caleb Johnson and 32-year-old Prince Tribble.

On November 1, the three men and a fourth unidentified man arrived at a home on Oakwood Drive and would come and go multiple times in the next day, leading up to the homicide at the same address.

The four drove to the home in a Buick Regal, which Chambers reportedly took without permission on October 27. Chambers and two of the men took a Toyota Prius, owned by a woman at the home, and allegedly used the vehicle in a carjacking in the 1300 block of West Sugar Creek Road around 3 a.m. on November 2.

After 11 a.m., police say the men got into an argument over clothes in a stolen Chevrolet Malibu. It appears that the four men were alone at the home by the afternoon.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing at least two separate sets of gunfire and then heard a man say, “Are you hit?” Soon after, the Buick Regal drove quickly across the yard, down the driveway and sped away from the neighborhood. The vehicle was then spotted on a traffic camera speeding away.

According to authorities, cellphone records put Chambers at the Oakwood Road home throughout the day until 1:40 p.m., when the phone was turned off. The phone later reappeared around 4 p.m. at a different location.

Investigators believe multiple guns were used during the murder. Numerous 9mm casings were found at the scene, but no firearms were found at the site of the murder. It is thought that Chambers and the unidentified man took off with Caleb Johnson’s gun.

Police say a bullet casing from a carjacking on October 20 in the 3700 block of North Tryon Street, in which Chambers was a suspect, was matched to a bullet casing from the Oakwood Road murder.

Chambers is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, discharging a firearm in the city, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
