Man is facing a stalking charge after police say he followed a woman he didn’t know around a Target store

Eric R. Perez, 41, is charged with third-degree stalking, a class B misdemeanor, South Windsor police Lt. Mark Cleverdon said.

According to Cleverdon, police were called to the store at 125 Buckland Hills Drive, near the Manchester line, shortly before 7:30 p.m. They had received a report of that a stranger had been following the 39-year-old woman around the store, recording video of her.

Police identified the man as Perez, but he had left the store, Cleverdon said. Police later found him and issued the misdemeanor summons.

Perez is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Manchester Sept. 24, Cleverdon said.

When officers talked to Perez, he admitted he went to the store with the intention of recording “in case there was something provocative to observe.” He said he was influenced by content on social media.
