Man charged with the felony offenses of Kidnapping and Strangulation

RawNews1st – A Smithers man is facing felony charges in Fayette County. Sheriff Mike Fridley provides the following information regarding this incident.

Deputies were dispatched to the Smithers Detachment of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department to meet a female wanting to make a complaint.

When deputies arrived they were met by a female who was visibly battered and in distress. This female then began to tell deputies, that for the past two days, her boyfriend held her against her will, choking, beating her off and on.

Early this morning, the female convinced the male to allow her to drive him to the South Charleston area where she was able to get him to exit her vehicle and she escaped.

Harold Richard-Daniel Tolbert, 29 of Smithers, is charged with the felony offenses of Kidnapping and Strangulation, as well as the misdemeanor offense of Domestic Battery.

Tolbert was transported to Southern Regional Jail to await further court proceedings.
