Grady Demond Wilson, most famous for his portrayal of Lamont Sanford, Fred Sanford’s lad on the NBC comedy Sanford and Son, has passed away aged 79. Wilson’s lad, Demond Wilson Jr. , confirmed to TMZ that his father was declared dead on Friday morning (January 30) at his Palm Springs, California, USA residence.

He succumbed to cancer-related complications, though Demond didn’t disclose the specific type of cancer his father battled. Speaking to the outlet, he shared: “I loved him.

“He was a great man.” Grady, who adopted the professional moniker Demond Wilson, graced Sanford and Son from 1972 through 1977 before taking on the character Raymond Ellis in the short-lived Baby… I’m Back!
