Father has been arrested in the death of his toddler daughter in central Florida
A father has been arrested in the death of his toddler daughter in central Florida after he fell asleep with her in a hot tub.
On December 13, 2025 around 3:30 a.m., sheriff’s say deputies and fire rescue crews had responded to a home in Kissimmee, Florida after receiving a report of an unresponsive child who appeared to have drowned in a hot tub. The girl was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as 20-month-old Azariah Hough.
Detectives determined a family from Washington, D.C, was staying at the home, which was listed as a short-term Airbnb rental.
Azariah’s father, 33-year-old Reynard Tyrone Hough, allegedly said he’d brought her into the hot tub and fell asleep while holding her. Hough reported waking up to find his daughter unresponsive in his arms in the hot tub.
Hough allegedly told detectives he was drinking that night, and police say alcohol likely contributed to his falling asleep. Allegedly, Hough also ingested two different narcotics before getting into the water with his daughter, he told detectives.
Detectives determined Hough was neglectful in Azariah’s death and initially arrested him on a charge of child neglect causing great bodily harm.
On December 14, an additional charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child was added against Hough.
Hough remained behind bars at the Osceola County Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
