The Barry-Lawrence Chapter of Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and filing of charges for an area man allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run. 

Derek Christopher Coburn, 19, who is known to frequent the Monett and Aurora areas.

He is allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place at about 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday on Farm Road 1180 near Jenkins. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred about 3.5 miles west of Jenkins, when the driver of a northbound 2001 Chevy 2500, reportedly stolen from Monett, failed to yield to an eastbound 2021 Kawasaki ZX10R, operated by Patrick E. Anderson, 38, of Aurora, before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 p.m. by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen.

This is the 45th fatality accident reported by Troop D for the year.

The accident is currently being investigated by Trooper C.J. Beck of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Coburn is described as standing 6 feet, 2 inches in height, weighing approximately 165 pounds, and having red curly hair and green eyes.
