Body Cam: Officer Involved Fatal Shooting Serial Car Thief.

April 23, 2021- 12:16 p.m.

The Burbank Police Department released body cameras, pictures, surveillance cameras of an officer involved in a fatal shooting on March 8, 2021, at about 4:46​ a.m., Burbank Police Department received a report of a check the wellbeing on an unsupervised young child, who appeared to be wandering in the Quality Inn parking lot.

Officers arrived on-scene and contacted the child. During their investigation, officers came into contact with a male, who the child said it was his father later identified as 30-year-old David William Kahler of Las Vegas who was seated inside of a vehicle in the Quality Inn parking lot and point a gun at one of the officer this is when an officer involved shooting occurred.

Officers immediately summoned medical aid. The Burbank Fire Department responded and transported the subject . to a local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Neither the child, nor the officers were injured as a result of the shooting. The child is currently in protective custody.

A loaded firearm was recovered at the scene.
