A Mississippi man is accused of killing six people — including multiple family members and two men connected to a local church
RawNews1st – The shootings unfolded roughly 125 miles northeast of Jackson.
Authorities identified the suspect as 24-year-old Daricka M. Moore. He was arrested just before midnight at a police roadblock in Cedarbluff after a multi-agency manhunt involving local, state, and federal officers.
Moore is being held without bail at the Clay County Jail in West Point on multiple murder charges. He is expected to make his initial court appearance on January 12, 2026. If the charges are upgraded to capital murder, Moore will be ineligible for bond under Mississippi law.
Clay County District Attorney Scott Colom said his office intends to pursue the death penalty, calling the case one of the most severe his office has handled. Colom stated Moore is expected to be appointed a public defender during his initial appearance.
According to Eddie Scott, investigators believe Moore acted alone. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators say the first shooting occurred at a family mobile home on a dirt road in western Clay County. Moore is accused of killing his father, 67-year-old Glenn Moore; his brother, 33-year-old Quinton Moore; and his uncle, 55-year-old Willie Ed Guines.
After the initial killings, authorities say Moore stole his brother’s truck and drove several miles to a cousin’s home. There, he allegedly forced his way inside and attempted to commit sexual battery. Investigators say Moore then placed a gun to the head of a 7-year-old girl and fatally shot her. The child’s name has not been released.
Sheriff Scott said witnesses reported Moore also placed a gun to the head of a younger child who was present, but the child was not shot. It remains unclear whether the weapon malfunctioned or the trigger was not pulled. The child’s mother and another child were also inside the home at the time.
Moore then allegedly drove to the Apostolic Church of The Lord Jesus, a small white frame church in the area. Authorities say he broke into a residence on the church property and killed the pastor, Barry Bradley, and the pastor’s brother, Samuel Bradley. Moore is accused of stealing one of the victims’ vehicles before fleeing the scene.
Investigators said the Bradley brothers primarily lived in nearby Columbus but stayed on church grounds during weekends. Some members of Moore’s family attend the church.
Moore was taken into custody at 11:24 p.m., approximately four and a half hours after the first 911 call was received. Authorities said Moore was armed with both a rifle and a handgun at the time of his arrest. Investigators are working to determine how he obtained the firearms.
The Mississippi State Medical Examiner is conducting autopsies on all six victims.
Sheriff Scott said Moore’s surviving relatives are devastated by the violence.
“This has really shaken our community,” Scott said, adding that many conversations with family members have consisted only of prayers due to the depth of their grief.
The motive for the killings remains under investigation.
