Cops were called to a home near Hickory — about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte — at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday where they found 12 shooting victims, according to Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

One victim is dead, and another is in critical condition, cops said.

No arrests have been made and authorities have not released any information about suspects.

Special agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are involved in the investigation, assisting local Hickory police and the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s deputies and local police and state special agents were working to establish a motive, the statement said.

Investigators told ABC-affiliate WSOC-TV there was a party at one of the homes with more than 100 people when one or more people began discharging firearms.

Catawba County is located in the western part of the state, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, about an hour north of Charlotte.
