A 2-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the face on Chicago’s South Side

There was a Chicago shooting Monday. Kh’aden Johnson, 2, accidentally shot himself in the face on East 87th Street in Chatham and later died.
The toddler was in the 300-block of East 87th Street in Chatham about 1 p.m., when the gun went off, CPD said.
Chicago police said there has been a person of interest identified in connection with the shooting.
The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, police said. He later died, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as Kh’aden Johnson.
There are roughly 114 child and adolescent accidental gun deaths annually in the US. Additionally, an average of 2,893 children are unintentionally shot and suffer non-fatal injuries each year.
