California wildfires reach Giant Forest – historic sequoias THREATENED

Firefighters continue to battle the KNP Complex blaze as it moves in on the ancient Four Guardsmen trees in California’s Sequoia National Park.

The National Weather Service issued a red-flag warning Sunday, with the world’s largest tree wrapped in protective foil, but flames have already reached the neighboring grove containing the national monument Trail of 100 Giant Sequoias.

Over 7,000 wildfires have struck the state this year, torching almost 8,000 square kilometers
