46-year-old man shot while sitting in car before work in Chicago

A 46-year-old man was shot around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday while warming up his car in the 38400 block of North Sheridan Road in Beach Park, authorities said.

The victim was taken by a relative to Vista East Medical Center, then flown to a Level 1 trauma center; his condition has not been released.

Detectives said the 46-year-old man was sitting inside his vehicle when he was shot. Waukegan police later notified sheriff’s detectives that a relative had driven the victim to Vista East Medical Center. He was later airlifted to a Level 1 trauma center.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted, authorities said. No arrests have been made.
