3 suspects have now been charged in the violent home invasion shooting that left two men dead
Three suspects have now been charged in the violent home invasion shooting that left two men dead on Avenue Q.
Houston police say 24-year-old Jacob Lee St. John, 23-year-old Raul Gallegos, 23, and 22-year-old Damien Vega are all charged with capital murder in the deadly attack that happened around 3:10 a.m. on January 21, 2022.
When officers arrived at the home, they found a chaotic scene: two men shot, another badly beaten, and masked intruders already gone.
Apolonio Alvarado, 37, died that morning. Juan Ramirez, 41, fought for his life for more than a year but died from his injuries in June 2023.
Investigators say multiple masked men burst through the front door, opened fire, and assaulted the victims before fleeing on foot.
Detectives later identified the suspects. Gallegos and Vega were already in TDCJ custody on unrelated charges. On Tuesday, HPD’s Southeast Crime Suppression Team arrested St. John, who is now charged for his role in the deadly break-in.
