Louisiana – 20-Year-Old Louisiana Man Found With Multiple Gunshot Wounds Inside Car

Officers were called at about 2 a.m. to a shooting in progress in the 1000 block of Louisiana Avenue, which is near the intersection of East Simcoe Street on Lafayette’s north side. 

Police found 20-year-old Jatravian Chevelier, of St. Martin, who had been shot multiple times, inside a car in a parking lot on Mudd Avenue, about a block from the Louisiana Avenue and East Simcoe Street intersection, Lafayette Police spokesperson Sr. Cpl. Matthew Benoit said in a news release. 

Chevelier was taken to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries. 

This is a developing story and more information is expected to be released, Benoit said.
